As I see it, the problem with the VW learn the route and then drive it at 80mph car is that no one wants to drive from New York to San Francisco at three miles per hour just so that the car can then do the trip at 80mph on its own.
Having said that, it would be good to have a car that would deliver you to a pub that is miles away and then sit on the back seat while it drives you home at the end of the evening. I might have to get one.
