Unfortunately Iris ran out of blow just before Santa was fully erect.
It's strange what people want to wrap their lips around. I have a great desire to blow an old Emperor.
That's an antique Boosey & Hawkes clarinet before anyone gets the wrong idea. I spotted one in a music store and arranged to go back with my mouthpiece so that I could try it out.
I've lusted after the chance to blow an Emperor clarinet for 50 years.
Stupid really because it must be twelve years since I last blew a clarinet. When I got home I decided to spend a few hours getting used to mine again so I'd have a reference point.
Today I have a pain in my right thumb from supporting the weight of the clarinet and a bottom lip that feels like it needs stitches because I was biting on the reed too hard. If I go back to the shop I'll take Iris with me.
She can hold and blow while I do the fingering.
